Intermediate/Senior Surface Land Administrator
Due to growth in project activity, Access Land Services has an opening for an Intermediate/Senior Surface Land Administrator in Red Deer, Alberta.
We are looking for someone who knows all facets of Surface Land Administration in AB, someone proficient with Crown or Freehold land. Experience in Renewables would be considered an asset
Role and Responsibilities: Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Prepare documents for the acquisition of lands, rights-of-way, damage settlements, rental reviews, well sites, pipelines, utility rights-of-way, lease amendments and third-party agreements
- Prepare supporting land documents such as third-party line lists, surface acquisition reports, landowner line lists, public consultation reports and notifications
- Prepare and update status reports ensuring accuracy and effective communication of project progress internally and with clients
- Deliver projects on time and on budget with an acute attention to detail
- Ensure project requirements, deadlines and schedules are on track
- Obtain and manage receipt of third-party consents as part of third-party programs
- Final package preparation and interest registration
- Conducting all appropriate searches (titles, conservation, coal, historical, if necessary)
- Prepare field file for land agent and insert appropriate checklists, etc
- Ensure that all checklists have been completed accurately
- Answers all calls: screening as required, directing to appropriate caller, and answering general questions about our business
- Greets incoming clients and visitors, offers coffee/tea to water to visitors and notifying employees visitor has arrived
- Ensures office is kept neat and tidy
- Responsible for all incoming and outgoing courier packages and mail
Skills required for success in this role:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills to set and drive established goals while focusing on accuracy
- Positive, friendly with a high customer service approach to duties
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Exceptional reporting and project management skills
- Experience in a brokerage environment would be an asset
Your experience includes:
- Extensive working knowledge of surface land procedures, relevant land legislation and regulations
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office products with strong Excel skills
- Experience in billable time environment is preferred
- High School Diploma & Land Administration Diploma
- Daily use of company computer
- Good organizational and communication skills including written and verbal
- Ability and interest in learning to schedule time, prioritize and mastering land administration procedures

Field Land Agent
Preferred Experience and Qualifications Include:
- Experience with rural landowners, acquisition, consultation, oil and gas industry and renewables would be considered an asset
- Experience with Windows software, Word, Excel and SharePoint preferred
- Understanding of applicable guides, acts and regulations
- Understanding of typical land/regulatory processes and procedures
- Able to communicate timely, clearly, and concisely, by phone, in person and email
- Able to manage tight deadlines and time constraints
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Highly motivated with the ability to take initiative and have exceptional strong work ethic
- Demonstrate solid critical thinking skills and effective problem-solving skills
- Exceptional organization and highly detail oriented individual
- Proactive, action oriented individual
- Some Travel Required
Education:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in land, Land Agent’s License, with experience working in the Oil and Gas Industry and/or Renewables (Environmental, Government or other) would be considered an asset.
Role and Responsibilities:
- As a Consulting Land Agent, liaise with clients and provide value for various diverse projects
- Acquire various types of surface land agreements with landowners and project stakeholders
- Ensure delivery of projects to clients and the Access team in a timely fashion while
- Responsible for meeting targets and managing resources
Required:
2 – 5 years’ experience as a Surface Land Agent, Graduation from an accredited Land Agent program • Permanent Land Agent License, Valid Driver’s License, Regional working experience in AB, Working knowledge of surface land procedures, relevant land legislation and regulations, Proficiency in a Microsoft Office environment
